Scott's journey to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and schizophrenia was off to a fantastic start at the Minneapolis kick off.  Scott told his story, stressing the need for men to get their PSA tested with a simple blood test, and the need for better treatments that don't have the side effects often seen from the prostate cancer treatment and the schizophrenia treatments. He asked the men to sign the banner to pledge to get their PSA checked.  This banner will travel with us around the country and hopefully be filled with signatures from men in the 33 states we are traveling through - all pledging to get their PSA checked!  You can see the video of  Scott's speech HERE or go to the website where it is uploaded!  www.milesformoney.org.  Shawn from Zero Prostate cancer flew in for the event and talked about the comprehensive support and services Zero offers to patients. Zero has been on the front line for 20 years fighting for a cure.  You can read more about Zero at zerocancer.org.   Katy talked about logistics of how to help with the two-part mission of awareness and funds.  Virtual rides with pledges are already getting organized, and one person has pledge $1 per mile (and Scott plans to ride over 11,000 miles!)  We are very excited about the many volunteers who have stepped forward to fundraise for Scott's team doing various creative events!  If you have ideas of what you want to do to fundraise for either or both causes, contact Katy at milesformoneyusa@gmail.org

Gathering with friends and family was a wonderful way to kick off the journey, as we are very grateful for the warm loving support we have been given.  We will miss you all but are honored to be on this mission.

The most significant highlight and surprise of the kickoff, which brought much emotion to all, was the promise of a $100,000 match for fundraising.  Consider the impact that type of match has for fundraising goals - your donation of $100 becomes $200!  Many thanks to RF for his extraordinarily generous match.

This mission is a team effort.  Please spread the word about Scott's journey and goals to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and schizophrenia. Follow the journey through this blog and the website www.milesformoney.org, where you can read more and donate too just press the donate link!   Thank you!
