Surpassing 3800 miles after today: Grow and Give month
The journey has gone through fairly flat Midwest, through much elevation and rain in the Appalachians, to the fairly flat coast regions traveling down the southeast with mild weather. The new challenge Scott has already encountered is deep sand on some trails and wind. As all cyclists know flat terrain means the chance for big wind which can be a bigger mental challenge than elevation as it has no “down” to counter the “up” but rather unrelenting wind, (unless it is a tail wind!) By the end of this week Scott will be turning West, to start across Florida and begin the western trek.
I asked Scott how that felt? His response in his usual understated humble fashion, “I feel like I completed part of it”. He is also “relieved as I was concerned about the routing through the East coast,” which for him was hard to plan. Mainly, he feels thankful.
We continue to be thankful for the gift of each day. As we
see other close friends fighting cancer, we continue to be grateful for this
gift of the day and the journey. November is “Grow and Give” Month! https://support.zerocancer.org/site/TR/GrowAndGive?px=1898271&fr_id=3041&pg=personal
Scott has
been growing his beard and will be sporting a blue beard soon to raise
awareness and funds for zero prostate cancer! More to come on that in the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile
it is about time to “go West young man!” milesformoney.org
